Applications
Alfa Aesar Titanium nitride is used in coating on titanium alloys, steel, carbide, and aluminum components to improve the substrate's surface properties. Used to harden and protect cutting and sliding surfaces, for decorative purposes. It is used to coat costume jewelry and automotive trim. It is also used in also used in microelectronics. It is also used in top layer coating, usually with nickel to chromium plated substrates.
Notes
Provides easy application of uniform, thin, protective high temperature TiN coatings. Substrates can be ceramic, graphite or metal. TiN properties: resistance to molten metals, electrical conductivity, high stability with carbon/graphite, moderate thermal conductivity. Max temp. use: 350°C Air; 1600°C Vacuum; 1900°C Inert; 1600°C Vacuum and carbon. Coverage: 30-50 ft /can. Carrier: acetone, propane, butane, alcohol.
